TAMAHUNGA16 CHALLENGE

TAMAHUNGA16 is a crazy endurance event focused on raising money & awareness for mental health in NZ. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Firstly, a little bit about the what: We're (Hamish Barton, Hamish Blampied, Luke Davids, Tom Searle, Greg McDowell & David Hassan) planning to walk a local Warkworth DOC track called Mt Tamahunga 16 times (and a bit more) to climb the equivalent height of the highest mountains in both the North & South Islands of NZ, (Mt Ruapehu- 2797m & Mt Cook- 3724m) which is a height of 6521 metres in total. The Mt Tamahunga track from the carpark to the summit is a 5km round trip with an elevation of approximately 400 metres, its a fairly rough track, steep in sections and is surrounded by beautiful plants, trees and bird life. We'll be doing the Tamahunga16 Challenge on Friday, October 1, through into October 2, it will take 21+ hours. Our aid station will be located at the Mt Tamahunga carpark off Omaha Valley Road. Now the important stuff, the why: We all have friends, family, work colleagues, team mates, community members who struggle with mental health challenges. There aren't many people who don't experience some kind of mental health challenge at some stage of their life, but sadly some suffer more than others. We want to do this challenge to raise money and awareness for mental health and do our bit to support the work amazing work of the Mental Health Foundation in NZ. Nearly 50% of New Zealanders will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime, and I don’t want them to face it on their own. Your donation will help the Mental Health Foundation of Aotearoa provide people, workplaces, schools and communities with the tools they need to build positive mental health and well-being. We want to raise $16,000 so please donate today! https://events.mentalhealth.org.nz/fundraisers/hamishbarton/tamahunga16
